Biograhy
Sammi started singing at the tender age of 8 in a church choir in her home town of Bedford and later joined the National Youth Training Choir performing in Churches and Cathedrals around the Uk. This sweet soprano did not stay innocent long however after she sold her soul to rock and pop - taking weekly vocal lessons and perfoming with 'Highstyle' - the school pop band and had the priviledge of singing a tune she wrote at The Royal Albert and Queen Elizabeth Hall !
As a young performer, Sammi also strut her stuff at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and even Blue Peter as a dancer in the Christmas Panto and was very pleased to get her Blue Peter badge.
At 18, she studied at Vocal Tech Vocal School and gained a Diploma in Popular Music Performance, she then took off to work as a character in Eurodisney for a season and then came back to Bedford and studied at Stella Mann College of Musical Theatre and Dance which she left early having been asked to join
The Tarantinos www.thetarantinos.com - a European Touring Show incorporating music from Quentin Tarantino films. With the band she perfomed in Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and even got to be on Hungarian TV!
Sammi has also had the priviledge of perfoming with great bands such as
The Soul Patrol, The Mat Roberts Duo, The A Band and talented musicians such as Johnny Dankworth.
Other credits include - Her Majesty's Theatre - with Star EFX and Cafe de Paris as 'Sammi and Shale'
Currently she is working on a dance and trance album which is scheduled to be released this year with band Love Deuce www.lovedeuce.com and is also teaching singing privately and for Theatretrain Theatre School.
Sammi is very pleased to be singing with The Backline Band as it's great fun and loves to see people dancing to the funky grooves on the dancefloor.
Artist she most admires has to be Aretha Franklin....RESPECT !!!
